Florida now leads the nation in population growth rate, as American’s pursue freedom and quality of life.
In 2022, Florida had the honor of overtaking a number of western US states to claim first place.
According to Deseret News, the four states with the fastest growth in 2021 were Arizona, Idaho, Utah, and Montana, all of which are located west of the Mississippi.
Florida’s population increase has coincided with the election of conservative Gov. Ron DeSantis, who won the midterm elections in a Red Wave-like win even if Republicans nationwide underperformed.
Since the coronavirus pandemic, the state has served as a safe haven for Americans escaping Democrat-run coastal states like New York.
According to some projections, Florida could acquire up to four congressional seats in the U.S. Census of 2030, reflecting the state’s demographic increase.
This would occur as Democrat strongholds like New York and California stand to lose 3 and 5 seats each, respectively, and millions, if not hundreds of thousands, of inhabitants would be emigrating in search of better opportunities.
There is no state income tax, food tax on grocery items, or personal property tax for individuals in Florida.
In order of population growth rate for 2022, Florida was followed by Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Montana.
